3 Steps to Having a Successful and Productive 2020

How are you doing so far in 2020? Are you building momentum or has 2020 started to lose some its luster? Research conducted by Strava states that most people will give up on their new year’s goals by January 19th.

If you are building momentum, congratulations. You are on your way to make your dreams a reality. If the luster has lost its glow, it’s time to refocus. It’s not too late to get on track for a successful and productive 2020. You still have several months left to shift gears and throw that statistic out the window. Now is the time to reflect on your personal and business dreams.

Turning dreams into reality is a simple formula: Purpose + Planning + Productivity = Dreams Realized.

The path is simple but it’s not easy, yet it’s well worth it. Ask yourself, are your dreams worth the effort? The chances are that you’re going to stumble – keep going anyway. Stay focused on the horizon.

What’s on your business horizon?

Ask someone you admire who is also an achiever, “Do you have a clear view of where you’re going?” It’s likely they already know exactly where they are going and how they are going to get there.

If you have difficulty setting and keeping your goals, you are not alone.

“According to the best research, less than 3 percent of Americans have written goals, and less than 1 percent review and rewrite their goals daily”.  – Brian Tracy

If you have your goals written down, you are way ahead of the curve.

Here are three practices that will help your goal achievement process. They’re simple but will take focus and endurance.

  1. Start your days with your purpose in mind and list out your goals. Like I mentioned, this part is simple.
  2. Take action by planning. Take those listed goals and break them up into meaningful tasks and activities that drive your dreams forward. It’s hard to jump rope with your feet on the ground.
  3. Endure! Do these tasks every day to create momentum! Commit to planning and execute those focused activities every day. We have all heard that success breeds success. I contend that success does not happen without momentum driven by action. Action > Breeds Momentum > Breeds Success.

“It takes 21 days to form a habit. To achieve goals you’ve never achieved before, you need to start doing things you’ve never done before”.  – Stephen R. Covey

Dreams become a reality by achieving your goals through planning and taking action to drive momentum.

It’s simple but it isn’t easy, yet the reward is well worth it! Enjoy the journey.
